Code Monkey

October 9th, 2006 Leave a comment Go to comments

I have a real thing for “Geek Music” (see My Cubicle and The DOM Song too) so when I ran into Code Monkey Like You over on Crazy Bob‘s site I just had to post a link. Based on this song I’ve subscribed to Jonathan Coulton podcast and I hope the RIAA and MPAA get what can happen when people are allowed the freedom given under innovative licenses like those of the Creative Commons. Of course with the recent Google and YouTube news, we might see a lot more of this kind of work…

I discovered JC a couple of months ago when Andre Charland included code Monkey as intro to one of his podcasts. I immediately bought 10 copies of Code monkey and then the entire collection of his MP3s. His songs are utterly fantastic in every way.

I just got my daughter an electric guitar this past week, so I’ve been playing Code Monkey till my fingers are raw.

As a matter of fact, I asked Ben to ask JC to appear at the Ajax Experience party. He answered that he’d love to come except that he is already booked that week. That would have been great!

    Other great JC songs:

    The Future Soon
    Mandelbrot Set
    Skullcrusher Mountain
    Re: Your Brains
    Big Bad World One
    I Crush Everything

It’s hard to choose just a few.

btw – Jonathan is usually referred to as JoCo. Apparently JC is another better-known bearded guy from way back. My bad.

What a small world Brent! Too bad he couldn’t perform in Boston, that would have been very cool. Everyone I’ve shared Code Monkey with *loves* it ;) See you at AE!
